Night Owls

Burning off the hours In front of the national gallery

London calling

Quick trip to london. Very impressed. Flew on easyjet for under a hundred bucks. Stayed at the Walrus, near the bridge and across the river from the clocktower.

I've been in Suisse too long. These sandwiches were an absolute bargain...

Tokyo Fixed Gear. A great bike shop

Chinatown

Museum of Natural History. It was stunning: the building, the exhibits, the history.

Our man of the cloth--the evolutionary cloth--Charles Darwin. His statue had an appropriately  commanding view of the museum.

Lugano

Rach and I met up with our friends Kris and Kelly down in Lugano for the weekend. A three hour train ride through Gotthard Pass.

Lugano is like Italy, although as my friends say, it’s better than Italy—no smells, “everything works” (something said by every Swiss person although I’m still not sure what that means), it’s clean, no crowds, nicer water. You get the idea. And it’s a little more laid back than Zurich and german-swiss cantons.

It’s my favorite place in Suisse so far. And when you’re on the train, the nice voice that harkens from the PA system has an Italian accent. So beautiful on the ears and what a difference from the harsh swiss german that proceeds it.

I think I’ll be looking for employment or grad school down here. Perhaps attend the slowfood university just south of the border and study heirloom tomato varieties and their contribution to Italian culture including marital strife in the 19th century and influence on Mussolini’s strategies.

Despite slow food’s history and start in Rome, I must confess that the Crackdonald’s in Lugano was the nicest I’ve seen and had I just been born in the world with no understanding of the corporate beast, I’d say I had the best hashbrowns known to man yesterday morning…

On our way up the coast, met some kids with a pretty sick rope swing.

The Resort we stayed in was really nice. We stole the last room available for the weekend. They probably tell that to everyone who comes here...

Our trip up to San Salvatore. We hiked up, took the cable car down.

There a sweet Ticino poster collection at the top.

Perhaps the best limonata anywhere?

Only the italians can get away with wearing blue Tod's like this guy
